Let’s talk about habits—not the clichéd "New Year, New You" resolutions, but intentional, lasting habits that help us feel more in control, less stressed, and even improve our quality of sleep.

One thing I’ve noticed over the years is how often the little things add up to big frustrations. Whether it’s rushing out the door or juggling too many tasks at once, those moments of chaos can creep into how we handle even basic skills like driving. We might find ourselves speeding to make up time, mentally distracted by our to-do lists, or forgetting to pause and breathe.

This year, what if we focused on small shifts that lead to big improvements? Think of it like decluttering your calendar—when we clear out what isn’t essential, we make more room for what really matters. It’s the same with driving. Slowing down so we can notice our surroundings, staying focused to give ourselves time to react if something goes wrong, and being intentional behind the wheel are habits that keep everyone safer.

I've shared in traffic classes how delegating our vacuuming to an automated vacuum we traded with our neighbor took one more task off our cleaning list. That simple swap gave us back time for priorities like exercise or quality time with my husband. It has felt awesome to return home from a trip to a freshly vacuumed house—one less thing to worry about!

It’s often these small things we do out of habit, without asking why we do them, that take up our time and energy. That’s why I created the Declutter Your Calendar series. It’s a tool I use to figure out where my time is going, whether it’s going to the right priorities, and where I can adjust my habits to make life easier.

And I’m not alone—52% of our Orlando traffic school students who completed our feedback survey through 2024 said having too much on their plate and lack of sleep were their biggest stressors coming into class. What if you could take an hour a week back to sleep?

The guide is designed with you in mind. It brings awareness to how you spend your time and helps you make small adjustments that add up to big results. The longest part is simply writing down what you do throughout your day. But even something as simple as implementing an automatic vacuum saved me an hour a week—time I now spend more intentionally.

PS~ I have been debating on redoing this email series into maybe an audio file / podcast or maybe video. Comment below what you would prefer. ☺
